Inspirational Women Series: Carlie Ziri
From child star to property mogul, Carlie Ziri is not one to take no for an answer.
With a serious work ethic instilled in her from the age of 9-months when she officially entered the "work force", Carlie set up the first ever property agency in The Rocks at the tender age of 25.
She spent the next three years building Sydney Cove Property until she decided to turn her hand to starting a family and, subsequently, sold the business for over $1 million. Not a bad pay day for a three year investment!
Since having her two children, she has ventured into multiple business ventures including online fashion jewellery retailer PinkCandy Accessories and the Lifestyle Brand of companies incorporating Lifestyle Property Agency and Sydney's first inner city Lifestyle Guide.
Biz Gals: What is your greatest achievement?
Carlie: Learning about calming the mind and meditation. This has allowed me to be able to juggle three businesses, two young boys, family, friends and staff.
Balance is everything and often hard to achieve, but by calming your mind daily, things become a lot clearer and easier to manage.
Biz Gals: What is the greatest lesson you have learnt?
Carlie: Money does not bring you happiness and outsourcing with the right support (in business and family life) can really assist you with doing what you want and allow you to focus on what you're really meant to (and want to) be doing..
Biz Gals: What is the best bit of advice you have been given?
Carlie: To BREATHE! Have a plan, take calculated risks and always do things for others. Give back and it will come back to you tenfold.
Biz Gals: What or who inspires you?
Carlie: That's a hard one! Many people for many different reasons. Anyone who has succeeded but is still doing what they truly believe in.
In terms of local talent, I was lucky enough to be featured in a book called #ifshecanican and there were some amazing young Aussie women contributing to changing the world. That's always inspiring.
Biz Gals: What is your biggest hope for women in the future?
Carlie: I don't feel like it's men vs women personally, considering I conquered a highly male dominated market and it never hindered my headspace. I feel like anyone can do anything...and I also believe that smart women can rule a better world.
