Scrumptious DIY Skincare

Antibacterial, antioxidant  moisturising, purifying and age-defying. What do all these words have in common?

They’re just some of the many beneficial properties of honey!

There is evidence that honey has been used since the dawn of time in skincare and medicine with hieroglyphics of bees and their hives found in ancient Egyptian burial sites.

Queen Cleopatra and Nefertiti used to use honey and milk as a central part of their beauty routines and the ancient Egyptians along with the ancient regarded honey as a healing medicine.

It's one of the oldest known wound dressings, used to treat breathing difficulties, fevers and animal bites, including honey in your diet was considered to ensure a longer life and is mentioned in historical scripts including the Bible, Koran and Torah!

I don't know about you, but my mum and Nona always made me honey and lemon tea as the first remedy whenever I had a cold or cough - a tradition I continue to this day.

Now you can harness the power of raw honey with these DIY skincare recipes using items you'll most likely find in your pantry and fridge!

Blemish Treatment

Nice and simple...using a cotton bud dab some raw honey on a blemish...done!

  • 2 drops lavender essential oil
  • 1 drop tea tree essential oil

Mix raw honey with lavender and tea tree oil and apply to the face for 15-20 minutes. Remove with a warm face cloth and use twice a week for maximum results.

This mask will gently detox the skin, treating blemishes and unclogging pores whilst nourishing it at the same time.

Nourishing Mask
